The multimedia health record

Merging all medical systems in just one central entirely digital common system available to the medical staff on demand in an easy and flexible way are the dreams of the future that became true just now! The new cooperation between Allgeier IT Solutions and the Contilia Gruppe in Essen, Germany made it real. By this unique form of system solution so far Contilia as parent organisation of numerous medical and social organisations wants to centralise and optimise its business processes dealing with the digitalisation of administrative documents.

Bremen, January 27^th, 2014 – Over 3,000 employees and a turnover of 178 million € make the Contilia Group one of the most important sanitary service providers in the Ruhr metropolitan area in Germany. The company is managing as parent organisation numerous independent hospitals and retirement homes with hospital treatments as well as ambulant services. In addition, medical centres, medical services, preventive medicine, early diagnosis and rehabilitation complete the portfolio of Contilia. In order to enhance the document and multimedia based workflows and the information process within the organisation hence the Contilia Group employs the multimedia document management and archiving system mDMAS from Allgeier IT Solutions.

Consolidation of different medical information systems

Due to the system integration in December 2013 and along the re-organisation of the information processes all multimedia objects and documents of different institutions have to be consolidated into innovative medical clients and cockpits and merged into one consistent central document management and archiving system. This procedure affects digitally generated or scanned documents, device data and medical images and videos. Integration into the established primary system KIS and the applied sub systems and medical devices ensures a universal process avoiding the use of incongruent media.

“We are convinced that the large scope of operations by integrating ECM and multimedia archives into mDMAS ensures the processing in a fast, secure and efficient way even of our remaining files and records along a coherent process chain at the Allgeier ScanFactory. By the use of our in-house performance measurement system we expect for 2014 measurable advantages“, states Mr. Frank Kriege, director of the medical engineering and IT department of Contilia, as reason for his decision.

Sustainable and reliable patient care with economic advantages

Avoiding paper, integrating device data and digitising remaining files and records improves the availability of information to physicians and nursing staff in a sustainable and efficient way and ensures a high quality and reliable patient care with economic advantages during the whole business processes. At the same time the legal restrictions in relation to electronic signatures, archiving and medical documentation are automatically respected.

Bernhard Beslmeisl, CEO and director of the business unit ECM at Allgeier IT Solutions, specifies important objectives of the project: “Along with our customer we previously have determined the user benefit and the customer can measure it shortly after introduction.
